Local dive Sites
1. FT. PICKENS' JETTIES
Located in the National Seashore State Park, this dive site is popular for training as well as recreational diving. Depths range from 15 to 50 feet, and the marine life is varied. I have seen turtles, barracudas, rays, as well as many tropical fish.
Best dive times are 1 to 2 hours before high tide.
2. CATHERINE
Just off the beach at Langdon Beach, can be done as a shore dive. Very shallow, parts cover and uncover at the mercy of the surf.
3. USS MASSACHUSETTS
Sitting just out of the Pensacola pass in about 25-30 feet, this former Battleship ts a great dive when the tide is right. Many bait fish attract larger fish and the occasional shark. Dolphin are often seen nearby.
